Nellayi gets a Diwali gift from railways

The passengers of Nellayi couldn't have asked for a better Diwali gift from the railways. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu sent an email personally to a regular passenger, who had been requesting authorities to allot a stoppage for Guruvayur-Punalur fast passenger (train no 56365) in Nellayi.
Prabhu informed Nellayi railway passengers' association president N V Prasad through an e-mail that a stoppage has been allotted in Nellayi railway station for Guruvayur-Punalur passenger. The official announcement regarding the exact date on which the new stoppage begins will be announced soon. “I had approached railway authorities with this request two years ago. It was recently that I started sending e-mails to the railway minister. To my surprise, I received a reply from him today saying that the railways has sanctioned train stoppage. It's the greatest Diwali gift we have ever received,“ Prasad told TOI.
With this, 11 trains will have stoppage at Nellayi. The station is situated between Puthukkad and Irinjalakuda stations, towards southern direction. The GuruvayurPunalur fast passenger reaches Puthukkad at 6.42am and Irinjalakkuda at 6.54 am. Passengers hope that Nellayi will be included in the list of stoppage without affecting the current timetable.
