Railway signal work to be completed before schedule

Thanks to the coordination among senior officers from all departments and the working staff, the major signal works at Ernakulam Junction will be completed two days ahead of schedule. This means, except train diversions, there will be no cancellation or termination of trains on Tuesday and Wednesday . At the same time, on Monday , there will be further more regulation of train services as all existing signals have to be disconnected for the final phase of modernization work.
“It's an achievement to finish work before a schedule and you can see why when you imagine the coordination among senior officers from a host of departments. We will change to the new signalling system on Monday ,“ said Rajesh Chandran, railway area manager Ernakulam, Southern Railway (SR).
It was on January 30 that authorities started the signal work and replacing wooden panelled crossover. Ernakulam Junction is the busiest station for SR when it comes to controlling signals with 376 train routes being controlled.
